[The last event left Cheyenne in a weird place and since then, she's been rather scarce around the village. Aside from getting food at one of the village restaurants, she's spent most of her time either in her apartment or in the forests just outside the village. Today, she's actually back to her usual spot: sitting on the edge of one of Luceti's many bridges, looking down at the water.]

[A few hours of this goes by until she finally opens her journal and poses a question to the residents. The very thing that's been on her mind all this time.]

It is not uncommon for others to ask questions using these journals, yes? [A pause. She wasn't really expecting an answer to that.]

...what do you think it means to be a "person"?

A soul? [For a moment, she almost looks amused.] That is a rather broad definition. Many creatures have souls, but all might not be capable of being thought of as a person.

Yeah? Well, um, my experience is kind of limited but...m-maybe being a person isn't always...you know. A positive thing? [But if Toothless was a person, then by the same token the Green Death was a person, too. Hmm.] Ooor maybe not. ]Now he's gone and confused himself.] What do you think?

To be honest, I am uncertain what to think. I have always considered a person to be something one would say to refer to humans.

Iiiii guess that's probably what it technically means, but--uh. I don't know. There are just so many things that act like people that aren't technically humans. Sooo it seems like they should be people, too.

That is true, yes. There are plenty of creatures in Luceti who are not human.

Myself included.

S-sorry. I shouldn't just, um. Assume. But if it's any token, you seem like a person to me? I mean, unless you don't want to be. I mean, ahhh...

I am the one who brought up this topic. It would be rather foolish not to expect anyone to ask about it, wouldn't it?

To put it simply, I am not a person. I am a monster.

[Seriously, what is tact.]

I am what is known as an illusionist. A monster that feeds on the souls of other creatures to survive.

[There's a bit of dead silence. That...well, that was not what he was expecting to hear.]

...B-but...um, you? Y-you don't exactly sound like...that. Kind of...monster. [It strikes him that not all monsters necessarily would want to be ones. Hmmm.]

Would you expect a monster to sound a particular way?

Iiiii, um, I guess I'd just...not expect them to sound so, you know, nice.

Simply because a creature is a monster does not mean it should forget its manners. Regardless, I suppose it would benefit myself to clarify that I do not mean any harm. I will not feed on a creature who has not explicitly given their consent.

But you...

[The Green Death was a monster. The Malnosso were monsters. But this girl? She...she couldn't be like them. No, it wasn't the same.]

Th-that's just it, though, isn't it? You're only a monster if you hurt people against their will. Toothless...I-I once thought he was a monster, too. But he's not. A-and I don't think you are, either.

Is that all a monster is? [It seemed too simple. It meant so many things to be a person, yet being a monster could always be summed up in so few words...]

[But before he can answer that, she adds on:] You are rather kind, aren't you.

[This catches him off-guard.] O-oh, I--um, I don't know, I just...um...just trying to help out, I guess.

Perhaps. However, I have noticed most creatures who immediately refuse to agree that I am a monster tend to be very kind. It is rather interesting, really.

I-it is? [He pauses.] I don't know, it just...seems like common sense to me, you know? Or...yeah.

Perhaps for some. However, I am quite certain anyone from my previous world would find it difficult to believe I could be anything but a monster.

...What...what makes you say that?

Who is it you think my kind feeds from? [A pause.] Although I suppose it is understandable. Most creatures in Luceti have never had the displeasure of meeting one of my sisters.

You see, I am rather unique in terms of illusionists.

[He doesn't answer that directly, but his pause is pretty telling.]

Y-your sisters. [Should he even ask?]

My fellow illusionists. Though the circumstances of our birth is similar, there is no true familial connection between us.

It is my hope none of them should ever appear in Luceti.
