[The last event left Cheyenne in a weird place and since then, she's been rather scarce around the village. Aside from getting food at one of the village restaurants, she's spent most of her time either in her apartment or in the forests just outside the village. Today, she's actually back to her usual spot: sitting on the edge of one of Luceti's many bridges, looking down at the water.]

[A few hours of this goes by until she finally opens her journal and poses a question to the residents. The very thing that's been on her mind all this time.]

It is not uncommon for others to ask questions using these journals, yes? [A pause. She wasn't really expecting an answer to that.]

...what do you think it means to be a "person"?

Fair enough. I know there are plenty of people that feel that way.

Still. You did ask how I saw it.

I haven't seen my parents in a really long time. That doesn't change the fact that they're my parents, and it's thanks to them that I have my merchant's heart.

I suppose that would apply for yourself, given your biological connection to your parents. However, I have no biological ties to the being I came from.

[A being she normally wouldn't have even mentioned if that experiment hadn't unearthed those old memories.]

Though I suppose that would be a far more unpleasant topic than the one I initially proposed.

...no, that would definitely make you look at it differently than I would. I mean, I can look at myself in a mirror and go "there's my dad, there's my mom". But if not everybody has that...

[A pause.]

A family is a group of creature connected biologically. Although... [Another pause.] I suppose there are exceptions to that. To be honest, recent events have made me rather uncertain in that regard.

Well, yeah, of course there are exceptions. I mean, you just said you were one.

There's nothing wrong with that, y'know. I mean, there are creatures back in my world that are just created by the gods. Can't really have a familial tie to gods, can you?

Family can tell you were you come from, but it's not like it's the most important thing in the world.

...if you don't mind me asking, Cheyenne, what kind of recent events?

The most recent experiment by our captors involved leading most of the village to believe they had lived a different life. I had siblings and people who I believe I cared about a great deal.

It was not something I have ever had before. [A pause. There's no hint of sadness in her voice, even if the words themselves sound somewhat depressing.]

[The words themselves sound very depressing. Geez, Cheyenne, Zel could learn a trick or two from you. Lina frowns in sympathy anyway.]

...that's...sick.

Sick nothing, that's unforgiveable!

There are many in the village who would agree with such a sentiment. However, I don't believe it was... quite so unpleasant.

[Confusing, yes, but she had spent that week being very happy hadn't she? Sure, she didn't understand why anymore, but...]
