[Cheyenne is lost. The whole village still looks weird and there are things all over the ground in the most inconvenient places. And although she feels quite indifferent about her costume for the most part, those high-heels have done nothing but gotten in her way with every step she takes. Literally, as a matter of fact. She was just on her way out when she stumbled on her feet, tripped on a pumpkin, and slammed into a wall. No real harm done, save for her bruised pride. Unfortunately, this habit of tripping is beginning to become more than just an occasional blunder: she's tripped at least 12 times since leaving her apartment.]

[As it stands now, she was just on her way back to community house 6 when, after spending more time watching the ground than counting the buildings as she walked by, she found herself in a section of town she couldn't immediately recognize. She even took a chance and peeked her eyes over the edge of her new red blindfold to see if she could more readily recognize the area. But really, without a point of reference, it was no use.]

[She soon gives up and decides to sit on the edge of one of the small bridges around town, dangling her feet over the edge just above the river and probably wishing she could just kick those awful shoes right into the water.]

In one week's time, I will have been here for two months.

We must have arrived during the same cycle.

Is that so? I heard that a great many people arrived during that same cycle. I wonder if such a thing is meant to happen again soon.

Apparently, we were the first in a long while. Who knows if the cycle will fix itself or continue as it has?

I suppose that is something that remains to be seen. I would think it better that fewer people were brought here altogether. I can't imagine most creatures would enjoy being removed from their home world.

I certainly don't. But no one asked me.

I'm sure if they only took those who were willing, the population would be much smaller. From what I've gathered thus far, I'm one of the few who is indifferent in regards to which world I am in.

I've met a few like that. Don't understand it, but I know that the sentiment is there.

I suppose if one has no obligations or ties to their previous world, such as myself, it matters not which one they live in so long as they are alive.

And there are worse places, certainly.

My, it has only just occurred to me that we have been carrying on a conversation without a proper introduction. My apologies. [A small smile.] I am Cheyenne.

Rupert Giles. Nice to meet you - I'm finding that introductions are something I tend to forget rather a lot.

They are something quite easily forgotten when one is not accustomed to giving them. I am certain I have given my name more often in these past two months than I have in an entire year back in my previous world.

Seeing as I lived outside, there was truly no place for me to go out of. Rather, my kind is generally not well-known for being very friendly.

I am an illusionist. Though I am uncertain as to whether you would be familiar with the term.

I am, actually. but as a sort of magic. Not as an individual species.

The power of an illusionist is from where the name is drawn. We create illusions in the minds of others via our eyes.

[Her hand reaches up and touches the bottom edge of the cloth over her eyes.] Hence, the blindfold.

To be honest, it is out of convenience that I choose to wear this blindfold. It is rather tiresome to walk around all day with one's eyes shut. And I would not wish for there to be an incident and bring harm to an innocent individual, should they accidentally catch a glimpse of my eyes.
